Chester Bennington nació el 20 de marzo de 1976.Su ciudad natal es Phoenix, en el estado de Arizona. Vivió su infancia en medio de la desorganización familiar provocada por el divorcio de sus padres, cuando Chester apenas tenía nueve años.
Un día, Chester recibió de un amigo suyo una maqueta que habían creado Mike, Brad, Rob y Joe, ya que buscaban un vocalista para el grupo que querían crear que más tarde recibiría el nombre de Linkin Park. Escuchó la maqueta y al gustarle el estilo de música que habían creado, Chester los llamó por teléfono dispuesto a querer formar parte de la banda, y a petición de estos, les cantó un trozo de la maqueta que había recibido. A Mike, Brad, Rob y Joe les gustó mucho su voz ya que la vieron adecuada al estilo de música que querían crear, y así fue cómo Chester fue invitado a hacer el casting y lo aceptaron como vocalista.
Según palabras del productor Don Gilmore, "Chester tiene una voz prodigiosa, ya que en una misma voz es capaz de cantar 3 notas diferentes al mismo tiempo creando un sonido vocal propio". Pese a ese "don", Chester ha sufrido muchos problemas de garganta, entre otros una hernia hiatal. Por ese motivo, durante la gira de Meteora se tuvieron que cancelar muchas fechas, por lo que en 2003, en España, sólo pudieron actuar en Madrid y Barcelona.
En el 2009, Chester Bennington lanzó su disco con su banda paralela a Linkin Park, llamada Dead By Sunrise. El disco se llama "Out of Ashes" y tiene una mezcla de rock de los 80' y de los 90'. Ya han hecho una gira para patrocinar el disco y a mediados de Febrero del 2009 tuvieron un pequeño Tour por Europa. Chester participó en el nuevo disco de Slash el cual salió a la venta en verano de 2009.
Recientemente ha estado ocupado en la grabación del nuevo disco de Linkin Park, "A Thousand Suns", el cual salió a la venta en septiembre del 2010 y por el cual hicieron por primera vez un tour por Sudamérica, presentándose en Brasil, Chile y Argentina.

Chester Bennington was born the 20 from March of 1976. His native city is Phoenix, in the state of Arizona. Its childhood in the middle of the familiar disorganization brought about by the divorce lived on its parents, when Chester as soon as it was nine years old.
A day, Chester received from a friend a his scale model that had created Mike, Brad, Rob and Joe, since they looked for a vocalist for the group that wanted to create that later it would receive the name of Linkin Park. It listened to the scale model and when liking it the style of music that had created, called them to Chester by prepared telephone to want to comprise of the band, and at the request of these, it sang a piece to them of the scale model that had received. To Mike, Brad, Rob and Joe they liked much their voice they saw since it suitable in the style of music that wanted to create, and thus was how Chester was invited to do casting they accepted and it like vocalist.
According to words of producing Don Gilmore, Chester has a prodigious voice, since in a same voice, is able to sing 3 different notes at the same time creating a vocal sound;. In spite of that , Chester has undergone many problems of throat, among others a hiatal hernia. By that reason, during the tour of Meteora they had to cancel many dates, reason why in 2003, in Spain, they only could act in Madrid and Barcelona.
In the 2009, Chester Bennington sent its disc with its parallel band to Linkin Park, call Dead By Sunrise. The disc is called; Out of Ashes; and it has a mixture of rock of 80´ and 90´; . They have already made a tour to sponsor the disc and in the middle of February of the 2009 they had a small Tour by Europe. Chester participated in the new disc of Slash which left on sale in summer of 2009.
Recently been it has occupied in the recording of the new disc of Linkin Park, a Thousand Suns, which left on sale in September 2010 and by which did tour by South America for the first time, appearing in Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
